PSYCHO TRAUMATIC TREATMENT

The brief need assessments done by the partner organizations of ODW show that a large number of youth are psychologically disturbed due to the impacts of war. This is one of the main problems affecting the youth in the post war era. The identification and treatment of psycho-traumatic youths is not a developed subject in Sri Lanka, and as a result, the identification of them is not a complete process.

Trauma healing is proposed in the project as an integrated part and the youth will be treated as a holistic person and given support in life skills necessary for becoming self-reliance adults.

Following activities included in the project for this objective.

¨ Introducing aesthetic means such as drama, art, music and cinema for the affected youth
¨ Affected children are mobilised to the society through games
¨ Counselling Programmes introduced for the affected youth through professional counsellors

It is aimed to provide counseling, psycho-traumatic support for 1775 youth in need of such support by 2011.
